PEFC means international co-operation

Co-operation within PEFC is based on mutual recognition.

PEFC Finland cooperates with other national forest certification systems through the global umbrella of the PEFC Council (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes).
Within this framework, national forest certification systems are rigorously assessed via public consultation and the use of independent assessors according to PEFC standards, guides and best practices.

Endorsement requires that the national system not only meets the requirements set for forestry, but also the general requirements for certification systems set by the International Standardization Organisation (ISO). PEFC certification is based on the definitions of sustainable forest management approved in intergovernmental processes and committed to by governments all over the world.

The national systems endorsed by the PEFC Council have the right to grant PEFC logo use rights to companies for use on or off product (e.g. on invoices) providing they meet strict conditions on the origin of forest based raw materials, either through a valid forest management certificate or a chain of custody certificate.
