PEFC standard revision in Finland 2008-2009

The set of seven revised Finnish PEFC standards endorsed by PEFC Council 28.7.2010:

• PEFC FI 1000:2009; Forest Certification Vocabulary
   
• PEFC FI 1001:2009; Implementation Levels of the Forest Certification System
   
• PEFC FI 1002:2009; Criteria for Group Certification; Level of a Forestry Centre or a Forest Management Association
   
• PEFC FI 1003:2009; Criteria for Certification; Level of  Forest Holdings of Individual Owners
   
• PEFC FI 1004:2009; Regional Committees of Forest Certification
   
• PEFC FI 1005:2009; Qualification Criteria for Certification Bodies and Certification Procedures
   
• PEFC FI 1006:2008; Standard Setting Process for Forest Certification 
   
• Introduction to PEFC Standards Review in 2008–2009

FORM International's Final Assessment Report 21.5.2010:

The work of the PEFC Forest Certification Standard Setting Working Group was completed in 16.4.2009 as the standard setting working group approved unanimously the final standard drafts. The revised criteria and other system documents will be sent to the international PEFC in autumn 2009 for evaluation and re-endorsement.

PEFC Finland - Finnish Forest Certification Council invited parties to form a broad-based Standard Setting Working Group.
The objective of the working group was to ensure that the following standards are up to date: 

• FFCS 1002-1:2003,
• FFCS 1002-2:2003 and
• FFCS 1002-3:2003.

The revisions were based on national experiences of the standards as well as on the latest research findings and developments in international processes associated with forests and forestry.

The Working Group followed consensus-oriented practices that promote the establishment of a mutual understanding between its members.

Other documents of the Finnish PEFC systen will be revised by the PEFC Finland.
